A picturesque flat tree lined 18 hole golf course situated within 10 minutes walking distance from the Invercargill city centre. The course is spread out through the confines of the well know Queens Park. This is a course that requires a good straight drive off the tee on a majority of the holes followed by an equally straight shot to the green. Stirling Point, with its famous signpost and walking tracks, is the beginning of State Highway 1 which traverses the length of the country to Cape Reinga in the far north \u2013 the journey really does begin here in Bluff. Our busy and historic port still boasts the timber wharf on which construction began back in 1863 \u2013 as the closest port to Australia, Bluff was a very important early New Zealand port, with many thousands of immigrants from the UK and elsewhere making their first landfall on this wharf. Bluff is still a very important port, with regular container and bulk freight services taking Southland\u2019s produce to the world. When arriving at Oreti Beach, Rakiura (Stewart Island) is directly ahead and the seaside resort of Riverton is to the right. Oreti Beach was the trail used by Maori when travelling between Riverton and Oue. The south end of the beach was called Ma te Aweawe (Misty Way).
